Metaphor for My Family by Ryan Alvord

My family lives in an amusement park.

Dad is the tallest, fastest and most powerful roller coaster ride
that always has the longest waiting lines.

Mom is the soft, sweet cotton candy
that sticks to you where ever you go.

Brock is the cuddly teddy bear
that you win playing games in the arcade.

Kelsie is the entertainment shows that take place at various times
throughout the park, exciting and dramatic.

Emilee is the merry go round,
that goes up and down and around and around.

Rosco, the beagle dog, is the clean up crew
that wanders around the park
picking up trash and garbage left by the guests.

Sophy, the leopard gecko, is the security guard
that is always watching but never seen.

And I am the noisy yet amazing fireworks at the end of the day,
the last thing you see before leaving the park.

Ryan wrote this cute poem in April 2008 for a 7th grade English assignment
